The Rattlers Lacrosse Internship Program provides a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in sports management, coaching, social media marketing, and community outreach. This internship is ideal for students or young professionals who are looking to build their skills while contributing to the growth of lacrosse in the community. Interns will be involved in all aspects of the organization, playing a key role in both operations and strategic initiatives.
Program Overview
Interns will work closely with the Rattlers Lacrosse directors and staff, supporting a variety of functions across game day operations, marketing, community engagement, and program development. This internship emphasizes responsibility, teamwork, and leadership—preparing interns to become key contributors to the Rattlers Lacrosse mission while developing valuable professional skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Game Day Operations
- Setup and Cleanup: Interns will assist with setting up fields for games and practices, including goals, cones, scoreboards, and branding materials. After the event, they will ensure that all equipment is properly packed and stored.
- Field Monitoring: Ensure that fields are maintained, safety protocols are followed, and players adhere to game rules and guidelines during games and practices.
- School and Community Outreach
- PE Classes & Field Days: Assist Rattlers staff in organizing and leading lacrosse sessions at local schools. Promote the sport to students, teach basic skills, and build excitement for upcoming Rattlers programs.
- Community Events: Help manage Rattlers tents, merchandise, and promotional materials at community events. Engage with potential players and parents to raise awareness about the program and its benefits.
- Coaching Support
- Training Sessions: Support Rattlers coaching staff during player training sessions. Assist with equipment setup, drills, and ensuring smooth operations. Interns will also have the opportunity to learn coaching techniques and strategies from experienced coaches.
- Social Media & Content Creation
- Posting and Engagement: Help manage Rattlers Lacrosse’s social media platforms by creating and scheduling content. Responsibilities include posting 2 Instagram Stories daily and 4-5 feed posts per week, highlighting practices, games, player spotlights, and community involvement.
- Content Creation: Assist in capturing photos, videos, and interviews during events and games, ensuring high-quality and engaging content that aligns with the Rattlers brand.
- Player Outreach & Retention
- Work closely with the directors to develop outreach strategies aimed at player retention and recruitment. This includes calling or emailing current and prospective players, sending reminders for upcoming programs, and promoting off-season training opportunities.
- Program Development & Planning
- Year-Round Schedule Support: Collaborate with directors to assist in the creation and maintenance of the Rattlers’ year-round development plan. This includes planning for upcoming seasons, camps, clinics, and tournaments, as well as ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall goals.
- New Partnerships & Sponsorships: Help identify and reach out to potential community and business partners. This includes fostering relationships with local businesses to establish sponsorships and partnership opportunities.
- Rattlers Golf Tournament Coordination
- Interns will help organize and secure sponsorships and registrations for the annual Rattlers Golf Tournament on May 4. Responsibilities include contacting potential sponsors, promoting the event, managing registrations, and assisting with logistics on the day of the event.
Commitment Level & Expectations
Interns are expected to commit approximately 10-15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to accommodate school or other obligations. Weekend availability is essential, as most games and events take place on Saturdays and Sundays.
This is more than just an internship; interns will be representing Rattlers Lacrosse and serving as ambassadors of the sport. Compensation Structure
Rattlers Lacrosse offers both paid and unpaid internship opportunities, depending on the role and level of commitment. Compensation will be discussed with directors during the interview process. Paid positions are typically reserved for those who take on more responsibilities or dedicate additional time to the program. However, all interns, whether paid or unpaid, will receive valuable professional experience, networking opportunities, and access to mentorship.
