Future Snakes: First Year Training Program
Your path from beginner to game-ready!
This program consists of 4 essential training sessions, designed to help new lacrosse players develop the core fundamentals and skills needed to excel in the spring season. By focusing on the basics, players will build the foundation for success and develop game IQ through focused drills and individual practice.
This program is designed for players with one year or less of experience, or any players who might be struggling with the fundamentals/skills of lacrosse. Intermediate and advanced players should register for Venom Academy.

Session 1: Lacrosse Fundamentals

Goals:

Develop proper hand positioning for catching and throwing.

How it helps:
This session ensures players have a strong grasp of the most basic skills. By perfecting these fundamentals, players will gain the confidence to handle the ball under pressure and become more comfortable in game scenarios.
Session 2: Dodging and Scoring

Dodges: Split, Roll, and Face Dodge

Goals:

Learn how to change direction and speed with dodges to beat defenders.

Practice shooting from different angles and with both hands.
How it helps:
Dodging and scoring are key components of offensive play. These drills will teach players how to create space for themselves and finish around the goal, preparing them for game situations in the spring.
Session 3: Defensive Footwork and Positioning

Defense is all about positioning and staying in front of your opponent. This session will help players improve their footwork and on-ball defense, which is crucial for transitioning from beginner to a more competitive level.
Session 4: 1v1, 2v2 Even Offense/Defense

Practice attacking and defending in even-numbered scenarios.

How it helps:
In lacrosse, success often comes down to winning one-on-one 2 man game matchups. This session will teach players how to apply individual skills in small-sided game situations, boosting confidence in real games.
Individual Drill Videos and Progress Tracking
Players will receive individualized drill videos after each session to work on at home. Each video will focus on reinforcing key skills covered in the session. Players will be encouraged to track their progress, noting improvements in technique, speed, and decision-making. These drills ensure that players continue to grow outside of regular practices, putting them on the path to success by the spring season.
